NEOCON 04: a few more winners

this herman miller's new teneo storage system. i really like it, mostly because of its creative use of construction elements, but mostly because those handles are so sweet.

this is just too cool. anyone with a cheapo chandelier and halloween decoration at hand, take note --- you could make your own $3000 light fixture for about $30.

wagons west: mountainside

not pictured: these flowers smell like honey.

an entire mountainside, laced with flowers that smell like honey. it made wheezing as i hiked the mountain just a little more tolerable. this is not to say that all of the flowers we walked by smelled pleasant; a few made me fear that we were close to a masturbating bear.

wagons west: prairie

the prairie is white space.

i was not prepared for this. i expected vast fields of grass, sure, but tall grass, and trees, and mountains in the background. but the prairie really. is. nothingness. high clouds, short grass, and damn near nothing in between --- anything that is, a house, a car, seems that much more special, more beautiful.

NEOCON 02: my favorite

yves behar designed this beautiful sofa for hbf. it doesn't scream, it whispers, "comfortable," just like a couch should. i especially like the material and color --- oatmeal? --- and the fold between the bottom and back. it needs a hug.


next to these pieces, i felt like i was in a lakeside cottage here in saugatuck. the colors and shapes recall the dunes. those are my dunes, so it may be no mystery that i would see this couch as, mine. i need to do more work like this --- timeless, fashion-free, and specific to my personal taste and experiences.

BMW GINA

sometimes, some guy from Minnesota comes along and completely changes the game. this is certainly the most incredible (arguably, about the only) concept car i've seen in a long time.


way to take the "skin-stretched-over-muscles" metaphor to another level, Mr. Bangle. it seems strange, then, that the same company would introduce this car:


which somehow pulls off the trick of looking older than the car it's replacing. then again, it is appropriate that sports cars are fresh, and big luxury sedans are conservative.
